The 10 councilors of the new Government of Aragon, chaired by Jorge Azcón, took office this Saturday in Zaragoza in a solemn act marked by brevity. The six directors and the four directors have been sworn in, all except two who have promised it, in the Chamber of the Crown of Aragon, surrounded by family members, authorities and representatives of Aragonese society.

In his speech, Azcón has made continuous references to the Aragonese wise man Baltasar Gracián when giving advice to his government team: demand, intelligence, setting high goals and putting all his will to achieve them, as well as discretion and prudence.

And, above all work, well, in his opinion, “there is only one path to success: work. I have applied it and I assure you that it gives good results. Things go well with work, work, work”. He has added that “there is no greater honor than working for the Aragonese and for defending Aragon above all else”.

Azcón has announced that the main objective of its Executive will be “for each measure and each action to pursue progress and social and economic growth”, as well as “solve problems, increase the well-being of families” and “offer more opportunities to people in a freer, fairer and more supportive Aragon”.

In another moment of his brief speech, he said that “in a government, words are very important, but what is fundamental are its actions.”

He has recognized that, along the way, they could make mistakes, but he has assured that if that happens, they will “explain and rectify” it and will never stop “working”.

In the new Executive, which this Saturday held its first government council to make some appointments, there are four women. Mar Vaquero is the vice-presidency and, in turn, head of Economy and Industry as well as spokesperson for the Government. Tomasa Hernández Martín will be in charge of the Presidency, Interior and Culture; Carmen Marín Susín Gabarre, in Social Welfare and Family, and Claudia Pérez Forniés will hold the Ministry of Education, Science and Universities.

Vox will have the first vice presidency, with powers in matters of Territorial Development, Depopulation and Justice, which will be held by its regional leader Alejandro Nolasco Asensio, a 32-year-old lawyer and writer, who has had to resign from the position of councilor in the Teruel City Council. And that of Agriculture, Livestock and Food that will be in charge of Ángel Samper Secorún, born in Zaragoza in 1960, farmer, founder of the Almudévar Cooperative (Huesca) and founding partner of the OVI Aragón Cooperative, currently Pastors. Specialist in livestock production and genetics in dairy cows and meat sheep, Samper has been the general secretary of the agricultural organization Asaja Huesca since 2012. He works in coordination with other agricultural groups, agri-food industries, cooperatives, irrigators and social agents in defense of the interests of the primary sector. The new counselor is not a member of Vox and it is his first experience in politics.

The PAR, whom Azcón invited in his inauguration speech to join the government, will have five general directorates: Water, Heritage, Hunting, Family and Natural Parks, none of them within the scope of Vox’s powers.

On the other hand, the outgoing president, the socialist Javier Lambán, has congratulated the newcomer through social networks: “Congratulations to Jorge Azcón, new president of the Government of Aragon. I hope his good wishes for the future of the Community come true” .

Message to which Azcón replied: “Thank you very much for your words. I want to publicly express my appreciation for eight years of work for our Community at the head of the DGA. Beyond the differences, Aragón is built together over time. I wish you the best in your new assignments.”
