Dresden (dpa/sn) – The number of thefts from solar systems and components is increasing in Saxony. According to statistics from the State Criminal Police Office on Wednesday, there were a total of 34 cases of theft in the first half of 2022, six of which were classified as attempts. The police put the damage caused at more than 250,000 euros.

In the second half of 2021, the police registered a total of 27 cases, two of which were counted as attempted crimes. The resulting damage is almost 90,000 euros. According to the information, 27 cases were also registered in the first half of 2021, 25 in the second half of 2020 and 24 in the first half of the year.

According to the police, panels, cables and battery storage were stolen in addition to entire modules. The thieves are often very well organized. The technology is mainly professionally dismantled and stolen from the roofs of larger halls and warehouses and from solar parks and fields, and there are also thefts from garage complexes and private property.
