Offenbach (dpa / lhe) – A forest fire was reported again in the Offenbach district on Tuesday evening. A police spokeswoman said on Wednesday that it was being investigated on suspicion of arson. Since the end of March there have been repeated fires in the forest, fields and meadows in Hainburg, Seligenstadt, Obertshausen and Heusenstamm. At the end of June, a man was arrested near Obertshausen after walkers discovered flames. Since then, the 45-year-old has been in custody as a suspected arsonist, but the series of fires continued.
The flames on Tuesday evening in the forest near Hainburg were discovered and reported by the pilot of a small plane. According to the police, an approximately 2,000 square meter spruce shelter burned, the trees were only planted three years ago.
