Lübtheen (dpa / mv) – The police in West Mecklenburg are investigating after a hitherto mysterious accident involving a small van with an escape. As a police spokeswoman said on Friday, the vehicle was badly dented and found lying on its roof in Lübtheen (Ludwigslust-Parchim) just before midnight. A passerby alerted the officers. There were said to be four occupants in the vehicle, all injured but gone.
In the course of the investigation, three men were found who were probably occupants of the van. They are said to have been slightly injured. The vehicle swerved to the right on a bend and hit a tree. Then it overturned and landed on the roof. It is not yet clear why the inmates fled. Above all, the driver of the van with a license plate from Bremen is still being sought.
The securing of evidence is still ongoing. The exact cause of the accident and what caused the men to be there is still unclear. The property damage was estimated at 15,000 euros.
