Kassel (dpa/lhe) – With an infant and several meters high, opponents of the motorway expansion protested on a high platform in the Stiftswald in Kassel on Tuesday. The action at a height of three to four meters was ended by special police units, as announced in the early evening.

Two women and a man left their high platform with the baby on Tuesday after discussions with the police, said the police headquarters in North Hesse. On posters they had “expressed their protest against a possible expansion of the A 44 in this forest area,” it said. The three adults are being investigated for an unregistered meeting and alleged trespassing. With a view to the baby, the responsible youth welfare office had been turned on. “The wooden structures were then dismantled and secured by police officers,” it said.
