The changes made by the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, not only affect the leadership of Génova, but also the leadership of Congress. And the main novelty is that Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo returns to positions of responsibility.
The deputy for Madrid will be deputy spokesperson and will be part of the Board of Directors of the Popular Parliamentary Group in Congress, three years and three months after Pablo Casado removed her as parliamentary spokesperson for the popular party.
In addition, another former spokesperson like Rafa Hernando joins the team, and also with stripes of deputy spokesperson. That is, to closely mark the Government in the control sessions and in the parliamentary commissions, like Álvarez de Toledo.
The PP board in the Lower House will be led by Miguel Tellado, as spokesperson; Macarena Montesinos, as general secretary of the Group; and Mar González, as deputy general secretary. The other leaders will be deputies Álvaro Pérez (he was parliamentary coordinator), Jaime de Olano (he was treasurer and economic coordinator), Bella Verano, José Vicente Marí, Sergio Sayas, Pedro Muñoz Abrines, Rafael Hernando, Miriam Guardiola and the aforementioned Álvarez of Toledo. All of the latter will be deputy spokespersons.
Likewise, the coordination of the different areas of the Board of Directors rests with the deputies and deputy secretaries, according to PP sources: Esteban González Pons, Juan Bravo, Borja Sémper, Elías Bendodo, Ester Muñoz, Noelia Núñez and Ana Alós.
The GPP Steering Council in Congress, chaired by Alberto Núñez Feijóo, “combines renewal and experience by integrating two former spokespersons of the Parliamentary Group in the Lower House such as Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo and Rafael Hernando, at a time when that parliamentary life will have total relevance in a legislature in which the first party in Spain will carry out a responsible and serious opposition against the worst possible Government for Spain, for being a reactionary, weak, divided and radical Executive,” the same sources point out.
