Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Under the pressure of the energy crisis and rising prices, minors and families should also be supported by the state. Aid offers such as food banks are also getting more support. According to the two parliamentary groups, the green-black coalition agreed to finance social facilities and advice centers in the upcoming Baden-Württemberg double budget with a further 35 million euros.
The money is to be invested, among other things, in school social work, poverty reduction and the heavily used food banks for those in need. The two leaders of the CDU and Greens, Manuel Hagel and Andreas Schwarz, announced on Thursday in Stuttgart that the package will be adopted under the motto “Strengthening social infrastructure”.
Among other things, it is planned to support school social work with a total of almost 14 million euros over the next two years in order to close learning gaps, as the two groups announced. The green-black coalition agreement already promises to strengthen school social work.
The state association “Tafel BW” and the local food banks are to receive a further 1.3 million euros more, around 2 million euros will go to youth protection, youth welfare and youth education agencies. As part of a “Child Protection Master Plan”, individual child and youth protection programs are to be financed with up to 5 million euros each in 2023 and 2024, which is the second-largest individual sum in the package. A total of around 6 million euros will flow into prevention networks against child poverty, over-indebtedness and homelessness in families over the next two years. Educational offers for parents and families as well as youth welfare and other organizations should also benefit from the support package.
