Over the years, she has developed a large clientele due to happy customers and positive word of mouth. Wanting to branch out with a space of her own, Sexton recently opened up Miss Anita’s Crafts.

"I’ve been thinking of getting a place for a really long time," Sexton said.

Miss Anita’s Crafts offers a variety of classes for kids and adults seven days a week. On Monday and Wednesday mornings, there are art classes for pre-school age children. Sexton said some students are as young as 18 months old.

"It’s really good for hand-eye coordination and dexterity," Sexton said. "Kids love art."

There is a class called After School Art, and Betnano classes are also held during the day for home school children. On the weekends, classes include painting, sketching, making tie dye T-shirts, wreath making, and kid’s club art. Jewelry design and different levels of cake decorating classes are also offered.

Miss Anita’s Crafts offers a special needs arts and crafts class which is taught by Sexton’s daughter, a certified special education teacher. Tutoring is also available onsite.

Sexton plans to hold summer camps and camps at other times when children are out of school. Birthday parties and Girl Scout gatherings can also be held at Miss Anita’s Crafts.

Miss Anita’s Crafts is located in the Lake Carroll Plaza at 11811 N Armenia Ave. For more information, call (813) 495-6442, or visit facebook/missanitascrafts.
