At least 43 dead in a Taliban attack on military base in Afghanistan

At least 43 soldiers have died and nine others have been injured this Thursday in a coordinated Taliban attack on a military base located in western Kandahar province, southern Afghanistan. This is the third major action against the Afghan forces this week.
A suicidal Taliban has detonated a vehicle loaded with explosives against an army base in the Maiwand district about 2.50 local time (22.20 GMT), to which it has followed an armed clash with the military deployed in the camp, indicated the Spokesman for the Ministry of Defence Muhammad Radmanish. “There were more than sixty soldiers at the base, 43 were killed, nine wounded and six were given missing,” the ministry reports in a statement.
