Baden-Württemberg: Allegedly not real: Customs confiscated flamethrowers

Baden-Baden (dpa / lsw) – The customs office in Baden-Baden confiscated a flamethrower in a package from the USA – it was allegedly not real, but it worked. As the main customs office in Karlsruhe announced on Friday, the 34-year-old recipient pointed out that he had purchased the flamethrower solely for collectors’ purposes and that he was hoping for an increase in the value of the item. The packaging also stated that the weapon-like item was not a flamethrower (“Not a Flamethrower”).

However, since the flames from it, according to the authorities, have a range of several meters, the monster very much resembled a real weapon and it was therefore classified as a dangerous object, the flamethrower was secured. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the 34-year-old on suspicion of violating the Weapons Act. The further investigations are taken over by the customs investigators.
