Baden-Württemberg: Bus with school children on an excursion on fire

Bühl (dpa / lsw) – A bus with 45 school children caught fire on an excursion on Thursday near Bühl in the Rastatt district. According to initial police findings, no one was injured. The children and two carers were quickly out of the danger area and were immediately distributed to other buses. Federal highway 500 was closed.

According to previous knowledge, the bus was in a convoy with two other buses and several school classes from Karlsruhe on an excursion. While driving, one of the buses suddenly caught fire in the engine compartment and burned out completely. A technical defect is believed to have caused the fire.

A child was examined as a precaution by helpers from the emergency services. However, it appears that it was not injured. The extinguishing work was completed around 45 minutes after the fire broke out. The federal road initially remained closed for the rescue work.
