Baden-Württemberg: letter affair: investigations against a detective

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – In the course of the letter affair about the suspended inspector of the Baden-Württemberg police, the public prosecutor’s office is also investigating against the officer who started the allegations. The detective is said to have recorded an unauthorized phone call with the inspector, a spokesman for the Stuttgart public prosecutor announced on Tuesday.

As the “Südkurier” (Tuesday) reports, the officer is said to have recorded parts of a video call during which the inspector is said to have made the statements in question. The public prosecutor’s office has therefore been investigating against the officer for breaching the confidentiality of the word since the end of last year, the spokesman said.

On request, the Ministry of the Interior did not provide any information on the current work of the officer and the question of how the investigations had an impact on the professional position of the woman, with reference to the protection of privacy.

Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) had also come under considerable pressure because of the so-called letter affair. According to the minister, he had passed on a letter from a lawyer from the police inspector’s lawyer to a journalist. Since Strobl agreed to pay a fine of 15,000 euros, proceedings against the minister should ultimately be dropped.
