Baden-Württemberg: Lightning strike: train failure

Aalen (dpa / lsw) – Because of a lightning strike in a tree, a train in Rainau-Buch (Ostalbreis district) made an emergency stop and initially paralyzed operations. According to the police, lightning struck a tree next to the railway line late Monday afternoon during a storm. Then branches fell into the overhead line. The train driver braked. Three out of 105 travelers were slightly injured. The property damage is estimated at around 100,000 to 150,000 euros. The route will remain closed for salvage and repairs.
