Baden-Württemberg: Niedzkowski trusts Wimmer to be head coach

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – According to coaching expert Daniel Niedzkowski, Michael Wimmer is a suitable candidate for the post of head coach at VfB Stuttgart. He trusts Wimmer to be in office, said Niedzkowski, under whom Wimmer once completed the football teacher training course, the German Press Agency. It is “an advantage” for the 42-year-old that he already knows the Swabian Bundesliga team from his time as assistant coach. “Because he can assess the situation at VfB well,” said the 45-year-old: “I would absolutely begrudge Michi if he got the chance to continue.”

After the separation from Pellegrino Matarazzo, Wimmer became interim coach for the Swabians. His future is now just as unclear as that of sporting director Sven Mislintat. When asked whether it made sense for a coach who was still inexperienced as a boss to work as head coach at a club like VfB Stuttgart, Niedzkowski replied: “A head coaching role, no matter where you exercise it, is complicated everywhere, I think not that it would be easier in the second division.”
