Baden-Württemberg: Scholz: Technological change is not a threat

Friedrichshafen (dpa / lsw) – Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) sees Germany well prepared for the change in the auto industry. “We have the best prospects of being able to get involved in the future,” said Scholz after a visit to the automotive supplier ZF on Saturday in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance. “People leave here with great confidence,” said the Chancellor. Technological change is not a threat, but a prospect.

During a tour, ZF CEO Wolf-Henning Scheider showed Scholz the transformation of the group, which is now one of the leading manufacturers of electric motors. The order volume for electric drives will be around 25 billion euros by 2030, said Scheider. Wind power gearboxes have also been part of the portfolio since 2007.

You have to move forward boldly “when it comes to dealing with our country’s future tasks,” said Scholz. “That will still work with technology from Germany,” said the Chancellor.
