Baden-Württemberg: Six years in prison for attempted murder and arson

Mosbach (dpa / lsw) – The district court of Mosbach (Neckar-Odenwald district) has sentenced a man to six years in prison for attempted murder and arson. Among other things, last year, shortly before Christmas, he set fire to two cars and two garbage cans in front of the house of a friend of his former partner in Mosbach, a court spokeswoman said on Monday.

He placed the garbage cans by the front doors. He also poured gasoline on doors and windows to set the building on fire. The man accepted the fact that residents of the house could die. However, some of the fires went out by themselves, the other fires were discovered in time.

The 51-year-old accused had previously set fire to the car of another ex-partner and damaged the car of a friend of another former partner. According to the court spokeswoman, the public prosecutor’s office requested a total of seven years’ imprisonment, the defense pleaded for three years. Monday’s verdict is not final.
