Baden-Württemberg: Unknown destroy art object in Reutlinger Park

Reutlingen (dpa / lsw) – Unknown people destroyed an art object in a Reutlingen park last weekend. According to information from the cultural office on Friday, it is a sculpture of a grazing deer that Fritz von Graevenitz made in 1921. The deer has been owned by the city since 1956.

The deer was kicked in such a way that the deer’s legs were torn out of the floor slab, and a front leg broke off. “It’s hard to believe the raw forces that were used against this art object,” said Anke Baechter, Head of the Cultural Office. The police meanwhile took the deer away for safety reasons, and the base plate was removed. “The empty spot on the meadow remains visible as a wound. Whether the damage can be repaired and what then happens to the deer remains open at the moment,” said Bechther.
