Riedlingen (dpa/lsw) – A Swabian innkeeper decorated his half-timbered house with flags of participating nations just in time for the football World Cup in Qatar. He flags the building for every European or world championship, said Socrates Filippidis on Friday. The historic building is in Riedlingen, a town with around 10,000 inhabitants on the edge of the Swabian Jura.
Filippidis is keeping his fingers crossed for the German national soccer team, which will start the tournament next Wednesday. “I see Portugal and Argentina at the top. I hope that Germany will reach the final and win,” said the innkeeper. The World Cup begins on Sunday with Qatar versus Ecuador.
