Munich (dpa / lby) – The Evangelical Church in Bavaria is looking for a new state bishop and is calling on church leaders and associations to make proposals. Heinrich Bedford-Strohm’s term of office ends in October next year. A good six months earlier, on March 27, the state synod is to elect a successor.
She is already receiving new suggestions for suitable candidates every day, said Synodal President Annekathrin Preidel, according to a statement on Wednesday in Munich. “We’re practicing something typically evangelical: the church builds itself up from the bottom up.” Nominations can be submitted until September 15th. On February 10, 2023, it will then be presented who the election preparation committee proposes for the bishopric.
