Bavaria: discovery of children's corpses: no further hot lead

In mid-May, a canoeist made a spooky discovery on the Danube in Upper Bavaria. He finds a wrapped body. It’s a dead child. Many questions remain unanswered – to this day.

Vohburg (dpa / lby) – More than a month after the discovery of a child’s corpse in the Danube, the investigators still have no concrete trace of a possible perpetrator. The examination of the corpse by the coroner in Munich also took longer than initially hoped for by the criminal police. As a result, it is still unclear how the four to six-year-old boy died.

In particular, the coroner should clarify whether the preschool child was violently killed. According to the police headquarters in Ingolstadt, these test results are still pending. Due to the approximately 40 tips from the population, the Kripo has not progressed either. “At the moment there is no breakthrough from these reports and therefore no hot lead for the investigation,” said a spokesman.

On May 19, a canoeist discovered the boy’s body in the river near Vohburg in Upper Bavaria (district of Pfaffenhofen/Ilm). The dead boy was wrapped up and had been in the water for a long time. Despite these circumstances, the police have not yet committed to a crime.

The Kripo Ingolstadt has formed an investigation team. There were several searches on the Danube with up to 45 police officers and other emergency services – also without result. In addition, missing persons cases from Germany and abroad are checked in order to obtain information on the identity of the child. In this regard, there are also no concrete investigative approaches to date.
