Munich (dpa/lby) – The personal share of those in need of care in a home rose by an average of 2 to 2.7 percent in Bavaria in the first half of 2022. This is the result of an evaluation by the Association of Substitute Funds. Accordingly, the residents of the nursing home have had to raise between 1457 and 2182 euros themselves since July 1st, on January 1st this range was still 1429 to 2125 euros.
These amounts are average prices that depend on how long the residents have been in a home. Because since the beginning of 2022, the long-term care insurance companies have been paying the insured a subsidy for the pure care costs, which increases over the years.
Residents who have lived in the home for less than a year are reimbursed 5 percent of the care-related expenses they have to pay themselves. This subsidy increases to 70 percent for men and women who have been in the home for three years.
All insured persons who have at least a care level of two receive the amount. The need for care of a patient is differentiated with a total of five levels. The higher the level of care, the more intensive and expensive the care. In addition to the care costs, the residents also have to pay the accommodation and meals to the homes.
The home costs in Bavaria are slightly below the national average according to the numbers of the substitute funds in Bavaria. Home care is significantly more expensive in Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia, where people have to pay 2555 and 2540 euros in the first year – compared to 2182 euros in Bavaria.
