Bavaria: Ice hockey fans injure security staff

Schweinfurt (dpa / lby) – Fans of the Amberg ice hockey club are said to have injured a security service employee and thrown a bottle at police officers after a game in Schweinfurt. After winning the game against the hosts Mighty Dogs, several supporters of the Upper Palatinate are said to have attacked the employees in the vicinity of the stadium for initially unknown reasons. “The volunteer was injured by punches and kicks in such a way that he had to be taken to a hospital by the rescue service after the first medical aid had been given on site,” said the police headquarters in Lower Franconia on Tuesday.

As police officers rushed to the man’s aid, another security guard got too close to a police dog and was slightly injured. According to the police, after the game on Sunday evening, a glass bottle from among the Amberg fans flew towards the officials, who then checked around 40 guest fans. At one of the “Ultras” they found a joint. Now, some supporters of the ERSC Amberg are being investigated for, among other things, dangerous bodily harm and assault on police officers.
