Bavaria: New sports director Werner wants to keep Regensburg in the "Top 33".

Regensburg (dpa / lby) – The new Regensburg sports director Tobias Werner wishes in the future more “dirty” victories of the second division soccer team SSV Jahn. “It shouldn’t happen so often in the second half of the season that we’re praised for defeats, I’d rather have the other thing: we played shit and won,” said the former professional at his presentation. Jahn Regensburg finished the first half of the season in twelfth place with 19 points.

Werner wants to keep Jahn in professional football. “Establishing one of the top 33 in German football is a reasonable goal,” said the 37-year-old. Werner was most recently sports director at fourth division club FC Carl Zeiss Jena, succeeding Roger Stilz.

With the Thuringians, the long-time Augsburg midfielder sat on the bench and not in the stands. In Regensburg, Werner leaves that open. “I have to talk to Mersad first,” he said to his coach Mersad Selimbegovic.
