Bavaria: pile-up with articulated lorries and trucks: highway free

Hohenbrunn (dpa / lby) – A collision with four articulated lorries and a truck on the Munich ring road 99 near Hohenbrunn paralyzed traffic there on Wednesday afternoon. The 39-year-old driver of the truck was trapped and taken to hospital with serious injuries, police said. The freeway was completely closed in the north for hours until around 8:00 p.m.

According to the police, a semi-trailer truck first drove into the middle lane in the construction site area around noon and then switched to the right lane. The 61-year-old driver cut in just in front of another articulated lorry, so that the driver could not brake in time and drove up. The 39-year-old driving behind him was also unable to brake his 15-ton truck and drove up, as did the articulated lorry behind him. This pushed the truck further onto the front articulated lorry. Behind it, a fourth semitrailer crashed into the scene of the accident.

Cooking fat that one of the vehicles had loaded had to be removed from the roadway. According to the police, there are two causes of the accident: the first semi-trailer truck changing lanes too closely and the distance between the vehicles being too small.
