According to US media, his lawyers were told on Thursday (July 27th) by federal prosecutors that they should expect an indictment from their client as part of the investigation into attempts to overturn his defeat in the 2020 election. .

Todd Blanche and John Lauro were received by officials from Special Prosecutor Jack Smith’s office on Thursday, NBC and ABC channels reported. On July 18, Donald Trump announced that he had received a letter from Jack Smith informing him that he was personally targeted by the federal investigation into the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. That day, a crowd of his supporters had invaded the premises to try to prevent the certification of Joe Biden’s victory.

According to several American media, Jack Smith had already made it known in his letter to Donald Trump that he was targeting him on three counts: conspiracy against the American state, obstruction of official process and deprivation of rights.
