Covid: the fourth dose open to all caregivers, without obligation

“All health professionals, regardless of their age or state of health”, can now receive their fourth dose of anti-Covid vaccine, indicates the General Directorate of Health (DGS) in a “DGS-Urgent” message addressed to all caregivers.

This decision also applies to “employees in the health and medico-social sector, home helpers working with vulnerable people, medical transport professionals, as well as firefighters”, without age criteria, state of health or “mode of exercise”.

Possible “six months after the first reminder”, or three months after a possible infection that has occurred in the meantime, “this second reminder is open to professionals who wish” and “does not fall within the scope of the vaccination obligation”, specifies the DGS, while the third dose has been required since January 30 for these same trades.

The government also maintained its refusal on Friday to reinstate the personnel suspended for non-compliance with this obligation, after several unfavorable opinions from the health authorities.

On the other hand, it has on several occasions extended the vaccine campaign for the fourth dose: initially reserved for the over 60s and the immunocompromised, it has also been open since last week to all adults “at risk of severe form of Covid” , pregnant women and all those “living in the entourage” of these different audiences.

Or 17 million “eligible” people, not counting caregivers, for just over 4.8 million injections according to the count of the ministry, stopped on Sunday.
