Daniel Brühl leaves Berlin – also because of the “war situation”

Professionally Daniel Brühl is currently in Italy for a film production, privately the native Spaniard recently moved from Berlin to his native country. “One of the best decisions I’ve made in 22 years,” says the 44-year-old actor of the magazine “Bunte”. One reason for this is the effects of the pandemic, which his family with their two children felt in the big city, but also “the war situation, which feels much closer in Berlin,” says Brühl.

“I wanted to give my five-year-old son, who now asks a lot of questions, the chance to move to his second home where it’s just more peaceful. We live in the country, in the mountains and by the sea. It’s a radical change, but it feels fantastic,” said Brühl.

The actor’s mother comes from Spain, Brühl was born in Barcelona. So far, the center of his life has been in Berlin, where he lives with his wife and two sons. Brühl became internationally known in 2003 in the leading role in the movie “Good Bye, Lenin!”. He won both the German and the European Film Awards and was nominated several times for the Golden Globe.
