De Blasio to meet with prosecutors

Mayor Bill de Blasio will finally meet with federal prosecutors and FBI agents Friday. The mayor has been cooperating with an investigation into his campaign fundraising and whether he or his administration traded beneficial city actions for donations to his 2013 election campaign or to his now-defunct nonprofit political group. The mayor has not been charged with any wrongdoing.

Recently investigators have been focused on de Blasio’s relationship with Moishe Indig, a Brooklyn businessman and landlord, according to The New York Times. Indig, a rabbi and leader in the Satmar Hasidic community in Williamsburg, hosted a campaign Nerobet fundraiser for the mayor in 2013 after the Democratic primary and before the general election. In 2010 Indig was also on The Village Voice’s 10 Worst Landlords list.

De Blasio will be questioned for about four hours on a number of issues involving other campaign donors including Harendra Singh, owner of Water’s Edge, a popular restaurant and wedding venue located on city-owned property along the Long Island City, Queens, waterfront.
