Foreign Affairs A Moroccan truck crosses Ceuta's commercial customs for the first time in history

One of the commitments reached by Pedro Sánchez and Mohamed VI in April 2022 was the opening of a commercial customs office in Ceuta for the first time in history. This gesture was added to the reopening of the customs office that already existed in Melilla, and that had been unilaterally closed for four years by the Alahui kingdom. This Friday, May 26, the first truck with Moroccan products has crossed Ceuta customs in a historic import.

Since last January, pilot tests have been carried out at the customs of Ceuta and Melilla with Morocco. In January, a truck with coils left for Morocco from Ceuta and the following month another truck with oil did the same. Yesterday the third commercial passage to the kingdom of Mohamed VI took place, but until today the arrival of material from Morocco has not taken place. It is a truck with the company Azulejos y Baños Susi S.L. that it has imported from Morocco 15 tons of aggregates for civil construction that it had been waiting at the border since Thursday.

The import has been carried out 48 hours after the municipal and regional elections, although it does not mean the beginning of a total opening of customs, since Foreign Affairs has always explained that there is a roadmap with set deadlines and that both kingdoms are following them. fulfilling. The deadlines are not public but this newspaper has confirmed that the importation completes the third phase of dispatch.
