Alan R. Mege will seek to fill the seat vacated by former District Judge David Tidd, who resigned. The court covers Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township.

Mege is a 1994 graduate of Penn State University and earned a law degree in 1997 from Dickinson School of Law.

A Republican, he plans to cross-file and run in the May 16 primary election.

Mege, a former judicial law clerk and associate counsel, maintains a law practice in Bethlehem. In a news release, he said he has also served as an arbitrator in Lehigh and Northampton counties and for the Better Business Bureau.

“I have participated in thousands of court proceedings and have worked very hard to earn the respect of my fellow attorneys and the judges that I have come before in courts,” he said in a statement.

He is an adjunct professor of law Nakitbahis and paralegal studies at Cedar Crest College and Lehigh Carbon Community College.

He and wife Melanie have a daughter, Rachael. They belong to St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Hellertown.

Said Mege: “I believe my 20 years of legal experience and strong ties to our community provide me the knowledge, training, experience and temperament needed to serve as your next magisterial district judge. I can assure you that anyone who may appear before me would be treated with the respect, fairness and dignity that all citizens of our community deserve from our courts.”
