Hesse: 80-year-old overwhelmed and locked up by thieves while she was sleeping

Birkenau/Darmstadt (dpa/lhe) – An 80-year-old woman was overpowered by two thieves while she was sleeping. The strangers locked the pensioner in a room and stole her money, the police in Darmstadt announced on Wednesday. The 80-year-old was freed after an hour by an attentive newspaper delivery woman.

According to the police, only a small amount of money was stolen during the break-in into the residential building in Birkenau (Bergstraße district) on Wednesday night. There was initially no trace of the masked thieves. The woman was unharmed.
