Hesse: Around five percent more Hessian clubs since 2012

Berlin/Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – In Hesse, the number of clubs has increased by around five percent over the past ten years. In 2022 there were 50,270 Hessian associations, according to the trend report by civil society in numbers (Ziviz) in the Stifterverband presented in Berlin on Tuesday. In 2012 there were still 47,680 clubs.

According to the report, the development is different nationwide. From 2012 to 2022, the largest increase was in Berlin at around 22 percent. Thuringia, on the other hand, recorded a decline of almost eight percent. In a country comparison, Saarland was in first place with the number of clubs per 1000 inhabitants, followed by Rhineland-Palatinate and Thuringia. Hesse is just behind. Bremen, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein recorded the fewest clubs per 1000 inhabitants.

According to its own statements, the think tank ZiviZ in the Stifterverband published a report on the situation of the organizations for the first time in 2012. For the current survey, 125,000 organizations were randomly selected and around 12,800 took part in the survey. The study was supported by several state governments.
