Hesse: "Desolate" situation at railways in the Hochtaunuskreis: crisis meeting

Hofheim/Bad Homburg (dpa/lhe) – The largest hydrogen train fleet in the world was supposed to roll through the Taunus at the beginning of the year, but the new trains were not delivered on time – the displeasure in the Hochtaunus district is great. On Thursday, those involved came together for a crisis meeting. More rail replacement traffic was decided, better passenger information and the use of service staff, as reported by the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV).

The aim was to “immediately improve the desolate operating quality on the RB15 line (Brandoberndorf – Bad Homburg)”, especially with a view to the start of school next Monday. In addition to the missing new trains, there will be construction work from mid-January. “The current lack of passenger information” also causes resentment.

It was decided to expand the rail replacement service with additional trips and larger articulated buses. The reason for the incorrect information in the information systems has been found and work is being done to fix it. From Monday, “traveller guides” will also be used at all stations.

According to the RMV, the manufacturer of the hydrogen trains “very much regrets the overall situation caused by the unsuccessful start of operations”. Alstom has announced that it will do everything in its power to “make a complete and reliable fleet of vehicles available on the Taunusbahn as soon as possible”. District Administrator Ulrich Krebs (CDU) and RMV Managing Director Knut Ringat invited to the crisis talks.
