Hesse: Fraport Skyliners sign American Marcus Lewis

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – The Frankfurt Bundesliga basketball team, the Fraport Skyliners, have strengthened their squad with Marcus Lewis. The 30-year-old winger, who was under contract with Polish runners-up Czarni Slupsk last season, was due to make his debut in Saturday night’s game at Brose Baskets Bamberg. A move by the Americans to the French first division club Pau failed in October due to financial constraints imposed on the club by the national league.

“I’m very happy that we were able to win Marcus over. He can be used in several positions, is a very good and versatile defender and also has a good character,” said Skyliners head coach Geert Hammink about the new signing.

The Hessians, on the other hand, will be missing Martina’s giving, who has injured his ankle, for several weeks. Lorenz Brenneke is also currently unavailable due to adductor problems.
