Hesse: Mostly those who are required to leave the country with a temporary deportation in Hesse

Berlin/Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – The majority of foreigners who are required to leave the country continue to have a toleration in Hesse. This emerges from a response from the Federal Ministry of the Interior to a request from the left-wing faction in the Bundestag, which is available to the German Press Agency. Tolerated persons remain obliged to leave the country, but may stay temporarily because they cannot be deported, for example because they have no identity documents or are ill.

According to information from the federal government, as of December 31, 2022, there were 17,821 persons obliged to leave the country with rejected asylum applications, of which 13,729 had a toleration. 1,018 people were deported from Hesse, 112 more than in 2021.

Nationwide, a total of 304,308 foreigners were required to leave the country, 248,145 of whom had a Duldung. Almost 13,000 people were deported.
