The League of Legends World Championship 2024 is in full swing, with the final phase about to begin. After an eventful Play-In stage, the top sixteen teams are ready to compete for the coveted championship trophy. The tournament kicks off with a series of Best of One (BO1) matches starting this Thursday.

In 2023, Riot Games introduced a new format for the World Championship, known as the Swiss format. This format is a bit complex, but we will break it down for you. Teams need to secure three wins to advance to the finals, while three losses will result in elimination.

The tournament started with eight BO1 matches, featuring teams like MAD Lions and KOI. Following these initial matches, another set of eight matches will take place on the second day. Teams with a 1-0 record will face each other, as well as those with a 0-1 record. The winners and losers from the first day will be grouped accordingly.

After the first two days, there will be four teams with a 2-0 record, eight teams at 1-1, and four teams at 0-2. The teams will play on different days based on their results. The first set of BO3 matches will determine the first two teams to qualify for the quarterfinals. Teams with a 3-0 record will receive the best seed, while those with a 2-1 record will continue in the Swiss phase.

The following day will see the last set of BO1 matches, where teams at 1-1 will fight to reach 2-1 and teams at 1-2 will be one step away from elimination. On Monday, teams at 0-2 will battle to avoid being eliminated, while those at 1-2 will still have a chance to survive.

After a short break, teams at 1-2 will compete for survival, while those at 2-1 will aim for qualification. The final day will feature teams with a 2-2 record fighting for a spot in the BO5 knockout stage.

The League of Legends World Championship promises intense competition as teams battle it out on Summoner’s Rift for glory and the championship title. Stay tuned for more exciting matches and updates as the tournament progresses.
