Man who climbed Trump Tower reportedly pleads guilty

NEW YORK — A man who tried to climb Trump Tower last summer using suction cups, ropes and a harness pleaded guilty to two charges, according to a report.

Stephen Rogata, of Virginia, spent two hours climbing to the 21st floor of the 58-story building on Aug. 10 before being pulled in a window by police.

Rogata pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, according to NBCNewYork.com.

He agreed to undergo one year of mental health treatment, stay in school and not get arrested again, the report said.

Police officers smashed windows and broke through a ventilation duct as Rogata, then 19, ascended the building from the fifth floor.

The climber moved slowly, and at one point stopped to put on a white baseball cap from his backpack. He was eventually pulled in by officers at about 6:35 p.m. after police blocked his progress.

In a video posted to YouTube titled a “Message to Mr. Trump (why I climbed your tower),” a man who resembles the climber says he scaled the tower to get his contact information to Donald Trump’s campaign.
