Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: accidents on slippery roads again: more caution needed

Neubrandenburg/Ribnitz-Damgarten (dpa/mv) – In view of a number of accidents on slippery roads during rush-hour traffic, the police have warned vehicle drivers in eastern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to pay more attention. Especially in the mornings it often gets a bit frostier, so that wet roads freeze over and the risk of slipping increases, as a police spokesman said on Monday in Neubrandenburg.

A pedestrian was injured in Castle Stargard in the morning when he was hit by a vehicle. The passage had to be closed at times. In Ribnitz-Damgarten (West Pomerania-Rügen), two cars collided on federal highway 105, where there were also traffic jams. Another accident was reported from Greifswald. Details of the accidents are not yet known.

Already at the weekend, the first snowfall and frozen roads caused a series of ice-related accidents with several injuries in the north-east. The police noticed that some drivers were still driving with summer tires.
