Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: brawl among members of motorcycle clubs

Ueckermünde (dpa/mv) – Two men were injured in a violent altercation between members of two motorcycle clubs in Ueckermünde (Western Pomerania-Greifswald). As a police spokeswoman said on Tuesday, the attack happened on Sunday evening on the market square in Ueckermünde. According to the police, three men in motorcycle gear are said to have pulled up while the others were sitting at a table in a restaurant. The attackers attacked and injured the men with blunt and stabbing weapons. The black-clad violent criminals would have kept their helmets on.

Witnesses saw the attackers flee in their machines and called the police. When the officers came, they found the two 30 and 33-year-old wounded nearby. However, the men declined to provide any information. It is therefore unclear which motorcycle clubs were involved in the brawl and what the motive for the attack was. It is not clear whether the victims sought medical treatment alone. The police are now hoping for further information from eyewitnesses.

On Saturday, the police and state security on the island of Rügen prevented a larger, unauthorized convoy of Bandidos. Almost 80 members of the motorcycle rocker club from all over Germany met in Stralsund and Bergen. The police had set up several checkpoints on Rügen, since the activities of such groups could pose significant risks to public safety and order, it was said. Targeted measures are also being taken to prevent legal vacuums from forming in the north-east as a result of such motorcycle clubs.
