Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Burning car discovered: Helicopter finds the driver

Groß Laasch (dpa / mv) – With a helicopter, the police near Groß Laasch (Ludwigslust-Parchim district) found the injured driver of a burning accident car. Witnesses noticed the car burning in full on Friday evening, police said on Saturday. It appeared to have veered off the road and struck a tree head-on. However, there was initially no trace of the driver.

Using a thermal imaging camera, a police helicopter finally managed to spot the man about 500 meters away. He was taken to a hospital, but police said he was not life-threatening. In addition, investigations were initiated against the man: He does not have a driver’s license and is suspected of having taken medication that affected his ability to drive.
