Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: closures near Rostock due to a 233-ton giant silo

Rostock/Güstrow (dpa/mv) – A giant tank for a biogas plant causes major traffic disruptions in the Rostock region for two nights. As the police in Güstrow announced on Thursday, the silo, which is 51 meters long and weighs 233 tons, has to be brought from the overseas port of Rostock to Strenz near Güstrow via the A19, among other things. This will require extensive closures on the weekend of December 9th and 10th and December 10th and 11th, a spokesman said.

Due to the enormous width, it is not possible to overtake the heavy load. On the A19, the transport had to be traveling in the wrong direction at times in order to be able to use the exits to Güstrow. The transport will run in two stages and will take a break in Bandelstorf (Rostock district). After that, there will be obstructions on federal highway 103, among other things.
