Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Entrepreneurs' association welcomes early gas price brake

Schwerin/Berlin (dpa/mv) – The corporate umbrella organization VUMV supports the plan for an expansion of the gas price brake by the federal government. “Should the present draft law be passed by the Bundestag, that would be good news – for end consumers as well as for the economy. Politicians delivered at the last minute,” said VUMV Managing Director Sven Müller on Tuesday in Schwerin.

According to a draft law by the federal government, the gas price brake planned from March 2023 should also apply retrospectively to January and February. This procedure is also planned for the electricity price brake. According to the plans of the federal government, this should actually start in January. However, the energy industry had declared that this was not technically feasible, just like the gas price brake.

The federal government is reacting to the sharp rise in energy prices with energy price brakes worth billions and wants to cushion the burden on private households and companies.
