Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Hospital society calls for more investment

Schwerin (dpa / mv) – The hospitals in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania see their supply mandate at risk. “We need more investment funds for the hospitals in order to be able to meet the challenges of energy supply, climate protection and digitization,” demanded the managing director of the state’s hospital company, Uwe Borchmann, on Friday.

Borchmann, who is also chairman of the Hospital Working Group in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (AKMV), currently sees the hospitals in the state in dire straits: “The managing directors of our hospitals can no longer rely on solid service financing, but are petitioning the federal and state governments in a completely confused underfunding jungle.”

The hospital working group complains that the special situation in the north-east is not seen enough. On the one hand, there is already the lowest density of hospitals in the country in this flat state, on the other hand, many potential patients are added by tourists in summer.
