Greifswald (dpa / mv) – About a week before the mayoral election in Greifswald, more than 5400 people applied for postal voting. “Interest is already very high,” the city said on Friday. In the election on June 12, around 47,600 people are entitled to vote.

In Greifswald, seven candidates are applying for the office of Lord Mayor. Incumbent Stefan Fassbinder (Greens) is going into the race with the greatest support. In addition to the Greens, the Left and the SPD also support his new candidacy. There are also Madeleine Tolani (CDU), Konstantin Zirwick (FDP), Ina Schuppa-Wittfoth (Die Basis) and Lea Alexandra Siewert (Die PARTEI) as well as the individual applicants Daniel Küther and Gamal Khalil.
