Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: The main committee discusses the accommodation of refugees

Greifswald (dpa / mv) – The main committee of the city of Greifswald wants to discuss the accommodation of refugees on Thursday (6.30 p.m.). Previously, the plan for a 500-seat container accommodation in the Ostseeviertel in the east of the city had met with strong resistance. City officials from various factions had criticized it. The district of Vorpommern-Greifswald and the city then announced that several smaller locations would be examined as an alternative. No final decision is expected from the Main Committee. Instead, the city council is expected to decide in a special session.

Around a meeting of the Ostseeviertel district council, around 500 people protested against the planned container accommodation on Monday. There had been hostilities against Mayor Stefan Fassbinder (Greens), who left the meeting under police protection.
