Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: the number of school leavers without a degree in the north-east has increased

Schwerin (dpa/mv) – According to data from the State Statistical Office, the number of school leavers without a degree increased in the 2021/22 school year. According to statistics published on Monday, the number rose from 646 to 846 young people compared to the previous year. Almost two-thirds of them were young men.

The last time the absolute number was as high as this year was in the 2007/08 school year with 919 pupils, whereby the total number of graduates at that time was 20,806, significantly higher than in the completed school year (13,780). In 2021 there were a total of 13,245 people.

According to the statistics, 120 of the young people who left school this year did not have German citizenship, an increase of 45 compared to 2021.
