Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: The program of the German dance company was well attended

Neustrelitz (dpa/mv) – In the pre-Christmas period, the theaters in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania were not only very popular because of the traditionally well-attended Christmas fairy tales. The German Dance Company, which, as a permanent cooperation partner of the Theater und Orchester GmbH Neubrandenburg/Neustrelitz, had also geared its program to the festive season, was also satisfied with the visitor response at the end of the year.

Almost 6,500 tickets were sold for a total of 23 performances. “The house performances and guest performances were largely in front of (almost) sold out houses and met an enthusiastic audience,” stated the dance company in a statement on Saturday. Most viewers came to the dance fairy tales “Puss in Boots” and “Snow White and Rose Red”.

The German Dance Company in Neustrelitz (Mecklenburg Lake District) goes back to the State Folklore Ensemble of the GDR, founded in 1952, but was newly founded in 1991/1992. The contemporary ensemble, which now includes 15 dancers from ten countries, celebrated its 30th anniversary this year.

For years, the dance company had to fight for its existence due to financing problems, but was given planning security initially until 2025 as part of the theater pact concluded in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2018.
