Mexico The mystery of Diana Peña, the Mexican who disappeared for a week and was found in a forest without remembering anything

Last April 24 was an important day for Diana Peña, a 33-year-old Mexican woman from the State of Mexico. She was on her way to a job interview that she never made it to and she never went to pick up her daughter from school either. The alarms went off, her car was found in the middle of the highway with the windows open.

Up to here it could be one of the thousands of cases of disappearances that unfortunately devastate Mexico, but her family’s response managed to bring Diana’s face to all corners of the Latin American country. Hopeful at the possibility of seeing her again and furious at her lack of help, her friend and her relatives blocked the Peripheral Ring of Mexico City with banners and demonstrations and flooded social networks with images of the woman.

Their pleas and efforts came to a happy end a week later, when they were informed that the Army had found Diana. She was in a wooded and remote area of ??the State of Morelos. She remembered almost nothing, she was dehydrated and disoriented. And it seems that the situation was not new.

The authorities in the area have reported that Diana is the third woman they have found in the area in similar conditions in the last two weeks. One was a minor who was missing and another an adult woman who was found naked. Both, like Diana, were disoriented and even seemed under the influence of some substance.

The authorities do not rule out any hypothesis. Kidnapping is a possibility, as is a case of abuse or simple robbery, since Diana’s mobile phone and computer both disappeared from the car.

The only thing the woman seems to remember is that a car approached her on the highway and she asked for help because it had a flat tire. Later, she swims until she finds herself in the woods of Morelos.
