Málaga Two Brazilian brothers arrested in Estepona for their links with Daesh

The Civil Guard has arrested two brothers of Brazilian nationality in Estepona (Málaga) for the alleged commission of terrorism crimes and their alleged links to Daesh.

Agents of the Information Service supported by the Special Intervention Unit (UEI) and the Rapid Action Group (GAR) have detained these two people under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office of the National Court and the Central Court of Instruction number 5, whose The owner has ordered his entry into prison, as reported this Monday by the General Directorate of the Civil Guard.

The detainees were allegedly immersed in a radicalization process and used encrypted instant messaging platforms to show their active support for the terrorist organization DAESH.

Both consumed and disseminated multimedia DAESH propaganda material through their Internet profiles, among which there were manuals for the making of explosives and poisoning or cybersecurity, as well as documents justifying the execution of suicidal actions.

The US FBI has collaborated with the Civil Guard to detect, identify and neutralize the two brothers settled in Spain.

Furthermore, through Europol, important links between these detainees and other individuals arrested or investigated in European countries for their links to the jihadist threat have been confirmed.

The agents have searched a home associated with the detainees in the town of Estepona (Málaga), in order to collect more evidence of their activities and clarify the facts under investigation.
