North Rhine-Westphalia: Bonn police announces increased identity checks

Bonn (dpa / lnw) – The Bonn police want to carry out more random identity checks in the city in the coming weeks. The background is an increasing number of crimes such as burglary and pickpocketing, the authority said on Friday. The so-called strategic search as a measure to avert danger should initially apply for 28 days. During this period, police officers could also check people and vehicles without concrete suspicion. This measure should increase the pressure on potential perpetrators, said police chief Frank Hoever.
